Getting Started
What tax year does AirGapTax cover?
The private-beta edition targets tax year 2025. Its outputs are draft estimates and worksheets for review, not official or fileable forms.
How do I install AirGapTax?
Public installers are not available during private beta. The Download page shows waitlist links and will expose a platform only after its versioned installer passes the website's release-evidence gate.
Does AirGapTax require an internet connection?
Not for tax computation or draft worksheet generation. Ollama and the optional local agent use loopback on your computer. If you explicitly enable Groq, chat text and summarized tax context are sent to Groq. Custom AI endpoints are disabled.
Is the Free tier really free?
The Free tier is planned, but no installer is public during private beta. It will produce draft worksheets only, not a return you can download and file.
License Keys
I purchased but haven't received my license key.
Payments are disabled, so there is no current public purchase flow. Existing testers with a delivery issue can email [email protected].
How many devices can I use my license on?
The current offline license does not use a server-enforced device count. It may use a locally computed machine identifier, but no activation total or device fingerprint is sent to Digent LLC.
How do I enter my license key?
During onboarding, use the signed license file or paste the activation code provided for your beta build. The app validates the signature locally without a server activation call.
What if I lose my key?
Email [email protected] from the address you used at purchase. We'll look it up and resend.
Does my license expire?
The planned commercial model is one license per tax year. No commercial license is currently offered, and the site does not promise remote revocation or server-tracked activation limits.
Filing & Returns
Does AirGapTax file my return for me?
No. AirGapTax generates a draft estimate or worksheet for review. It does not e-file. Current output is not an official IRS form, print-ready packet, or fileable return. Tax computation is local, subject to the separate optional AI behavior described below.
What forms and schedules are supported?
Form 1040, Schedule A (itemized deductions), Schedule B (interest and dividends), Schedule C (self-employment), Schedule D + Form 8949 (capital gains), Schedule SE (self-employment tax), and major credits including EITC, Child Tax Credit, Child & Dependent Care, Education Credits, and more. W-2, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, 1099-R, SSA-1099, and 1099-G are all supported.
Is crypto supported?
The planned Complete and Pro tiers include Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, and Gemini CSV workflows. Paid tiers are not currently for sale, and all generated rows remain draft output for review.
Is AirGapTax tax advice?
No. AirGapTax is tax computation software. It performs math. It does not advise, recommend, or opine on your tax situation. All outputs are drafts that you must verify before filing. Consult a licensed CPA, enrolled agent, or tax attorney for advice. See our Terms of Service.
What if the IRS audits me?
AirGapTax provides no protection against IRS audits. You are responsible for the accuracy of your return. Review every line of your output before signing. If you're audited, you'll need a tax professional — AirGapTax cannot assist with audit representation. See Section 7 of our Terms of Service.
Privacy & Security
Where is my tax data stored?
Workspace files and tax computation are local by default. If you enable Groq, the text you enter and a summarized tax context are sent to Groq. See the Privacy Policy.
Does AirGapTax have telemetry or analytics?
The product includes no telemetry or behavioral analytics. Tax computation runs locally. Optional Ollama uses loopback, and opt-in Groq sends the disclosed chat content and summary to Groq.
What about AI features — do they use the network?
Deterministic built-in help is local. Ollama receives chat text and summarized tax context over loopback. If you opt into Groq, the text you enter plus tax year, filing status, AGI, total tax, and refund or balance due are sent to Groq's fixed HTTPS endpoint. Custom endpoints are disabled.
What is the local agent server?
AirGapTax includes an optional HTTP server that runs on 127.0.0.1 (your loopback address). It exposes a local API so AI assistants like Ollama can query your tax data in context. This server only runs when you explicitly enable it, and it cannot be accessed from outside your machine.
Payments & Refunds
What payment methods are accepted?
None during private beta. The implemented server can use Stripe when fully configured. PayPal, Dodo, and BTCPay code paths remain unavailable unless their complete server configuration passes readiness checks.
Are refunds available?
No sale can be completed while beta mode is active. Future purchases will be governed by the terms shown when checkout is enabled.
Do I have to buy a new edition every year?
The planned model is one edition per tax year, with a cataloged 25% loyalty discount for a later edition. No renewal offer or filing product is currently for sale.
